Mike Snook

Born in Denmark (which explains his passion for all things Scandinavian/Nordic) with a Danish mum and British Soldier for a dad, he spent his childhood living in Denmark, Singapore, Germany and the UK.

His entry into the world of rock was through Status Quo and ELO and listening to Tommy Vance on BFBS Radio in the late 70's. His first album was If You Can't Stand The Heat. He then grew up in the world of NWOBHM loving Iron Maiden, Saxon,  Judas Priest, Rainbow, Dio etc

First year of gigs as a 15/16 year old were Status Quo, Motorhead, Rainbow  (with Def Leppard in support, there's a story about that one)

Mike's dad was passionate about music and this has definitely been passed on, he has to have music in his life and his passion is to share that love with others

Mike and his wife Jude ran a number of pubs in the South East all featuring live music, his proudest moment being running a five day Inaugural Surbiton Blues Festival, with the late great Wilko Johnson headlining.

He is open to approaches for more of this work.

After leaving pubs Mike started his own Karaoke & DJ business, which was very successful for 20 years before closing  down during the pandemic. He held an eleven year residency at the Bank and Compered many events for the forces here in the South West and previously in the South East.

Radio Presenter

Mike has had an ambition to be a radio presenter for quite some time, auditioning for KMFM in the 00's.

Then through a chance discussion at a gig with the organiser, (who was starting a radio station) the Phoenix Rock Show was born in January 2019 on Omnium Radio, a two hour rock show every Tuesday.

In April 2020 Mike moved the Phoenix Rock Show to it's current home on Ferndale Community Radio increasing it to a three hour show, where it has continued to grow with the station, with regular listeners all over the world.

Also presents Mike's Metal Mayhem an hour of Metal straight after the Phoenix Rock Show 10-11pm Every Tuesday Night

and

The Friday Brunch with Mike Snook between  10.30am and 1pm Every Friday. The music on this show is more eclectic and nostalgic, think radio 2.

NEW - Phoenix Rocks Breakfast 7-9am every Saturday morning on RockRadioUK

All shows are broadcast live and are fully interactive (unless I am not available (holiday/Sickness).

All shows are are available to be listened to on Mixcloud soon after broadcast.
